Originations Technical Co-Ordinator

Our rapidly growing and exciting company has a newly created role for a Packaging Technical Manager (pre-press). The successful candidate will take primary technical responsibility for packaging artwork, reprographics, proofing, print and colour management, working with an established artwork & retouching team you will lead the development of the packaging repro and print capability. MAIN PURPOSE To achieve Paragon Flexibles objectives by ensuring the production of artwork/repro across the site is in accordance with Flexibles Print specification and develop all technical aspects of packaging artwork, reprographics and print .T hrough collaboration with an established team nurture and develop new knowledge and skills. By working with the Studio Manager, train and develop the artwork team in the use of packaging repro software to industry standards. Provide technical direction to ensure packaging artwork and repro is of the highest standard and fit for purpose. Working with the Operations Manager, assist in the effective planning and delivery of packaging artwork and repro from customer concept to final delivery of product to the customer. To be the key contact for the Studio/Imagenet, Flexibles production, Brand Manager and External sales teams for all related artwork/repro enquiries. To implement processes to ensure that all new Flexibles artwork/repro is put through a standardised and systematic pre flight procedure and to reduce errors YOY, this reduces plate remaking costs and reduce associated machine downtime. To implement systems and procedures on site that will monitor and improve the sites plate/reprographic quality. To provide monthly reports including the implementation of KPI targets that will be directly linked into the sites continuous improvement programmes that reduces associated waste streams and costs. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Develop artwork team knowledge of packaging reprographics and print. Work with the Studio Manager, train and develop the artwork team in the use of packaging repro software to industry standards. Work for the Production Manager, assist in the effective planning and delivery of packaging artwork and repro. Provide technical direction to ensure packaging artwork and repro is of the highest standard and fit for purpose. Provide packaging print technical consultation and direction including: Pre-production assessment Production specifications Press approval Print challenge resolution Industry leading technical and process innovation Value optimisation and colour harmonisation Liaise with the National Account Manager / Studio Manager / Studio Administrator on monitoring forthcoming projects / designs and meeting Retailer expectations whilst maintaining consistencies across ranges. Ensure conceptual designs from retailers / brand managers conform to current print specifications To support retailer design meetings where required and to be responsible for organising the production and control of master colour standards across site, Provide colour matching instructions across all new designs briefs. To ensure all aspects of plate design/ originations conform to specification and where applicable introduce corrective actions to reduce any non-conformity. Provide a support to the print approval process whilst working in-conjunction with the production/external sales teams and controlling feedback to administration teams on site. Provide technical print support to the Print manager to introduce continuous improvement regarding and improving print quality. This will include advising on new technologies and print medium. You will also lead the packaging colour management agenda to achieve colour consistency across substrates, formats, processes, inks and finishes and support the development of technical knowledge and capability of the Production Team to effectively manage packaging projects from design to print. Work with the in-house software development team to provide technical and production workflow specifications input to create industry leading solutions. REQUIREMENTS A full and comprehensive knowledge of the wide web Flexographic printing process, and understanding of all packaging print processes and materials, print production tools and technical conversancy of printed packaging formats. To preferably have a of minimum 3 years experience working in a flexo repro/design environment. In depth knowledge of packaging artwork and repro software, for example: ESKO PackEdge ESKO Backstage ADOBE Acrobat ADOBE Illustrator ADOBE Photoshop In depth knowledge of template driven artwork creation, and QC software applications. In depth knowledge of colour management, harmonisation, measurement and proofing. Extensive experience of working in the pre press industry and directly with packaging printers / converters. Be able to go head to head with a printer to resolve technical challenges and print issues on behalf of our customers. Be able to collaborate with an established team to nurture and develop new knowledge and skills. Have an exceptional eye for detail and meticulously high quality standards.
