SUMMARY OF JOB To create and/or amend artwork and reproduction files in accordance with the supplied customer brief and technical specifications as required. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP Reports to the Operations Manager, or Lead Operator on their account. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES To create artwork and/or reprographic files in accordance with the provided brief, customer supply requirements and technical specifications utilising the full suite of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and ArtPro, or any other pre-press software provided as an approved toolset. This includes: The evaluation of incoming files Correct naming and version control Correct and effective file management Adhering to standard operating procedures (S.O.P.s) To ensure the highest standards of quality within the operation To communicate any issues arising, in a prompt and professional manner To prepare digital proofs as defined under the appropriate and specific manufacturing S.O.P.s Perform other duties as requested by the Operational Management team. SUBORDINATES None. JOB REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Creativity and independence Organisational, interpersonal and communication skills Excellent technical knowledge of relevant software including (but not exclusive to) the use of Apple Macintosh OS, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat and Artpro. Esko tools, GMG familiarity useful but not essential as training will be given. Excellent experience and knowledge of print processes such as Litho, Flexo, Gravure and Dry-Offset, to enable the accurate building of artworks and separated files to those process specifications. Good understanding of Adobe Illustrator CS5 or above, to allow separation and trapping of artworks within that application. Photoshop skills required for the accurate creation and manipulation of spot colour channels within images to the required print specifications. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Five years related trade experience or more. Experience of the following are essential: Packaging Printing Graphics Print Reproduction Digital applications for pre-press supply PHYSICAL DEMANDS Requirements for flexible starts / late or possibly weekend working, as dictated by the workload and available resources. WORKING CONDITIONS The position will be mainly desk-based on site, but with travel to other sites as required by workloads possible. SALARY & BENEFITS 26-30K per annum, depending on skill-set. 5 Weeks holiday, Company pension and Life Insurance. Location: UK, UK
